Sacred Places of Prayer & Reflection
The grounds of the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche at Mission Nombre de Dios are filled with sacred spaces that invite prayer, reflection and encounter with God. For more than four centuries, pilgrims have walked this holy ground seeking peace, healing and spiritual renewal.
Throughout the Shrine and mission grounds, visitors will find many places for quiet reflection and devotion—from the Historic Chapel that houses the crowned image of Our Lady of La Leche and the Infant Jesus, to the Rosary Garden and the Stations of the Cross beneath the towering Great Cross.
Other areas of prayer honor Our Lady under her many titles, including Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of Fatima. Visitors can also pause at the bronze plaque that outlines the vast network of Franciscan missions that began here at Mission Nombre de Dios—the first place of evangelization in what is now the United States.
These sacred places, rich in beauty and history, remind all who visit that faith continues to flourish where the Catholic Church first took root in America north of Mexico.
More information about each devotional site will be added soon.
